Our volunteers receive training and support in their role on the Final Honors team. Volunteers also receive certification from their school band director in performing a quality Taps. Our services must be booked by a funeral director on behalf of the family. Funeral directors may contact our volunteers directly or use the online booking forma> located on our website.

After you play at a funeral, the funeral director will sign your Taps voucher that can also be presented to your school for an excused absence. After playing at your first funeral or third community event, you will receive the official YTTC patch for your scout or band uniform.
You can expect to be at the funeral service for up to three hours. This includes arriving early, rehearsing, waiting on the family to arrive, the actual service, and the playing of the final Taps. Our mission is to use our musical gifts to honor those who have served our country. We only book our volunteers for events that follow our mission. We feel that performing live music at non-military events would potentially create competition for our fellow musicians who make a living playing music. We recommend that you look into hiring a working musician for your event. We are happy to pass on any contacts we have.
